Guangdong (Canton) is located in the southern part of the south China Sea.

Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong, is universally known for its excellent food. Cantonese cuisine is one of the Famous Eight in China with different flavors and styles, by using diverse and delicate materials, exotic spices and various cooking skills.

The Cantonese also have a custom of drinking tea with dim sum, we call it ‘Yum Cha’. Having dim sum is a part of Guangdong people’s life. Dim sum is served in morning tea, tea break in both afternoon and evening. The Cantonese go to the teahouse for different reasons. The real tea-drinkers, for instance, prefer to kill time with one pot of fragrantly hot tea and two plates of snacks. Businessmen go there to exchange information as well as to enjoy life a little bit over a cup of tea with some snacks. But thousands of ordinary urbanites will rush to the teahouse in the early morning for a moment of relaxation before starting the daily routine work. ‘Yum Cha’ was traditionally served by girls singing songs of praise for the delicacies they carried, it is now served on trolleys piled high with dim sum and a sign indicating what’s on offer.
